How to open an EML file online

Export an email from Gmail
Follow Gmail’s official instructions to download an individual message as an .eml file:
- On a computer, open Gmail and the message you want to save.
- Choose More (the three-dot menu), then Download message.
- Open the downloaded .eml file in this viewer.
Export an email from Outlook
Use the path for your version in Microsoft’s message-saving guide:
- New Outlook for Windows: Open the message, choose More actions, then Save as, choose a folder, and select Save.
- Outlook on the web or Outlook.com: Open the message, choose More actions, then Download.
Classic Outlook has different Save As formats. This viewer requires .eml and cannot open .msg; renaming the extension does not convert it.
What is an EML file?
An EML file is a saved copy of a single email message. It follows the standard format used for internet email, so the file can contain sender and recipient addresses, a subject and date, delivery and authentication headers, plain-text or HTML content, and file attachments.
Mail apps and support tools often create EML files when you save or export a message. Opening the file is useful when you need to read an archived email, inspect how it was constructed, or retrieve an attachment without importing the message into a mailbox.
What the EML viewer shows
The text view presents the readable plain-text part of the message. The HTML view renders a sanitized copy in an isolated preview. It may look simpler than the original email because the viewer removes remote images, scripts, forms, and active styling.
Raw headers and source can help you inspect fields such as Content-Type, Message-ID, routing information, and authentication results that are already stored in the file. The viewer displays those values; it does not verify the sender or independently test whether SPF, DKIM, or DMARC passed.
Private viewing and format limits
Parsing happens on your device, one selected message at a time. Mailactor does not receive the files, filenames, message content, addresses, or attachment details, and the preview does not request remote email content. No account is required.
The viewer supports many standard MIME messages and common text encodings. Encrypted email, proprietary TNEF content, severely malformed files, or unusually deep MIME structures may not open. Each EML file can be up to 10 MB, and a queue can contain up to 10 files and 25 MB in total.
